THE GOOD WIFE
The Good Wife is a legal drama series developed for American television created by Robert and Michelle King. It premiered on September 22, 2009 on CBS. The series stars Julianna Margulies as Alicia Florrick, Christine Baranski as Diane Lockhart, Archie Panjabi as Kalinda Sharma, Matt Czuchry as Cary Agos, Josh Charles as Will Gardner, Alan Cumming as Eli Gold, Graham Phillips as Zachary "Zach" Florrick, Makenzie Vega as Grace Florrick and Chris Noth as Peter Florrick in a recurring role.The series follows Alicia Florrick, the wife of the former Cook Country State's Attorney who has beenn put in jail due to a public sex and corruption scandal. With her husband in prison, Alicia is forced to return to work after taking 13 years out to take care of her children. She comes back as a junior associate litigator at the law firm Stern, Lockhart & Gardner and will have to deal with her home and professional life.
JULIANNA MARGULIES | Alicia Florrick
Her single name was Alicia Cavanaugh. She graduated from law school at Georgetown University. After graduation she worked as a junior associate for two years until her children were born, Zach and Grace. She left her work to be a stay-at-home mother.
After being married for 15 years to Peter Florrick, Cook Country state's attorney, her life changes radically when her husband gets involved in a sexual scandal by which he is accused of political corruption. Following the imprisonment of her husband, Alicia is forced to come back to work to provide for her two children.
She gets in touch with an old Georgetown University friend, Will Gardner, and returns to her old job as a junior associate litigator at the law firm Stern, Lockhart & Gardner. Due to the financial crisis of the firm at the moment, there's only one permanent position, so Alicia is hired in competition with another new junior associate, Cary Agos.
She will have to concentrate on her both professional and personal life and face the ongoing scandal of her husband.
Alicia's job will grow complicated when she will find herself forced to work a very high number of hours to be able to compete with Cary. That amount of hours will lead her to a closer relationship with her boss and old friend Will, under the attention of their co-workers and her family.
JOSH CHARLES | Will Gardner
Alicia's boss and Georgetown University friend. He is a named partner at the law firm Stern, Lockhart & Gardner and the one that gives Alicia the chance to get a job as a junior associate.
The show makes several references to his sports passion. He's usually playing with a baseball on his office and he also plays basketball with other lawyers and judges on his free time.
He is strongly attracted to Alicia Florrick.
ARCHIE PANJABI | Kalinda Sharma
She is the firm's mysterious in-house private investigator. She worked for Alicia's husband, Peter Florrick (while he was the state's attorney) during two years. Then he fired her for working two jobs.
Kalinda often wears leather clothes and knee-high boots.
She's shown as a cynical, misanthropic outlook on human behavior. She has sexual intercourse with people of both genders.
She plays a major part on the winning cases for the firm. She remains loyal to the firm despite being offered other jobs.
Kalinda developes a close friendship with Alicia Florrick. She's very protective of Alicia, often offering her advices on work and also on her private life.
CHRISTINE BARANSKI | Diane Lockhart
Diane Lockhart is a named senior partner and the top litigator at Stern, Lockhart & Gardner.
She offers to mentor Alicia Florrick although at first she is not very confident that she can do it. She supports other female lawyers.
She's a hard worker and very cautious about the economy of the firm. She also has strong opinions on many issues.
Diane is very confide in Will Gardner despite she accuses him of favoring Alicia over Cary.
MATT CZUCHRY | Cary Agos
Cary Agos is a young and ambicious lawyer. He studied at Harvard University.
He joins Stern, Lockhart & Gardner as a junior associate in competition with Alicia Florrick. On the paper, he's probably a better candidate than Alicia. He's very eager to learn and very competitive.
Cary developes a strange bond with Kalinda. He feels somehow attracted to her.
ALAN CUMMING | Eli Gold
Eli Gold is Peter Florrick's campaign manager. He's blunt and usually rude. He also has a strong and bad temper.
Eli is separated from his wife and has a daugther, Marissa who is as outspoken as him. They have a good relationship.
Due to Peter's campaing Eli have some conflict of interest with Alicia in many issues, but even though he likes her and tries to respect her decisions. He finds her smart and cautious, something he thinks Peter doesn't have.
GRAHAM PHILLIPS | Zach Florrick
Zach is Peter and Alicia's son, brother of Grace and grandson of Jackie Florrick. He's polite, calm and smart.
He's the eldest of the two Florrick children and an A-student in high school.
Unlike his mother, he has a great capacity with technology.
MAKENZIE VEGA | Grace Florrick
Grace is Peter and Alicia's daugther, sister of Zach and granddaugther of Jackie Florrick.
She's a more difficult personality than his brother and has trouble to make friends.
She hasn't completly forgiven his father for his sexual scandal. She's much closer to Alicia than to Peter.
CHRIS NOTH | Peter Florrick
Glenn Childs, his opposition, leaked a sex tape of him and a prostitute named Amber Madison to force him to resign and spent 10 months in jail.
His mother is Jackie Florrick and doesn't get on well with Alicia.
